Bio

headshotHi everyone. I’m Kelly Ann Atkins, a Licensed Massage Therapist in private practice since 1995. My personal and vocational background includes sports, restaurants, teaching, tutoring, child care, writing, and massage therapy. In addition to my massage therapy license I have a BA in Liberal Arts (English) from the University of Texas at Austin and a Texas Teacher Certification in English grades 6-12.

I thought massage was a great way I could serve other people; yet, without knowing it I needed it, too. Receiving massage in class about twice a week, I realized I had been in pain for years from old minor sports injuries. They were taking their toll on my body by gradually changing my gait. By practicing Pilates, receiving Rolfing periodically, and receiving massages more often, I stay healthy, strong, and pain-free. I love helping others do the same. In my experience massage also enhances creativity and vitality.

Practicing massage therapy over the years I’ve received feedback from many of my clients that they feel safe with me touching them. Literally they can feel I love my work.

Indeed, I adore and respect the human body. Every day I’m amazed by its perfect design.

I appreciate the individual differences, the various histories of stress, injury and trauma (including emotional trauma), aches and pains, and illnesses. Amidst all this, life itself and the ubiquitous healing urge flow through the body. My intention is that our work together will support and enhance the natural tendency of the body-mind to heal itself.
